In This Together

Since 2016 the ABA and the ABA Commission on Lawyer Assistance Programs has heightened focus on Lawyer Well-Being. Often neglected in general “wellness” programs, “well-being” represents not only mental and emotional health, but life satisfaction, purpose, and fulfillment. This presentation explores some of the elements that boost well-being, including Zen and how to incorporate it, as well as a review of habits and practices recommended in the ABA activities workbook published in The Lawyer Well-Being Tookit for Lawyers and Law Firms. Attendees are encouraged to download ABA/CoLap Toolkit from this link.

Better Habits = Better You

A habit is a routine or behavior that is performed regularly, and sometimes automatically. By being automatic, it can be helpful by literally freeing up some of your brain power for other things. It can also keep you trapped in a useless patter that just gets in the way. How are your habits helping or hurting your career and goals? How are they impacting your personal life? Are there new habits you would like to acquire? Have you tried and not been successful before? This workshop will address the science behind creating habits and provide practical steps for making changes work.

Well-Being by Boosting Resilience

A lawyer’s well-being relies on the level of resilience – which is the ability to get through, and bounce back from difficulty and adversity. During this time of COVID19 and national distress, attorneys are finding their level of resilience has been depleted as they strive to balance work and life responsibilities in an ever-changing landscape. Discovering, or rediscovering, simple well-being habits that boost resilience can do a long way to improve mental and emotional health, which is an important necessity for overall wellness.
