Judge Eugene J. Codey has lectured on behalf of the Essex County Bar Association, The New Jersey Association for Justice and the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He has also taught at the New Jersey Judicial College and at training seminars for the newly appointed civil judges. He served on the New Jersey Judicial Council and was chair of the Conference of Civil Presiding Judges in New Jersey from July of 2005 until his retirement. Judge Codey was a member of the Civil Practice Committee and the Supreme Court Committee on Fairness and Access. Prior to his retirement as the Essex County Civil Presiding Judge on September 1, 2011, he received the highest ranking in overall competence in the New Jersey Law Journal’s survey of lawyer’s evaluation. This selection marked the first time that a Civil Presiding Judge led the statewide ranking of Judges. He is now Of Counsel to Connell Foley, LLP in the firm’s Roseland NJ office, where he concentrates his practice in Alternative Dispute Resolution.
