Mark is a lifetime newspaperman and a 2013 Pulitzer Prize finalist in news commentary, primarily for his work on Hurricane Sandy. He is also a five-time winner of the New Jersey Press Association’s first-place award for column writing. His columns appear regularly in The Star-Ledger, and its online partner, nj.com, with an estimated readership of over 1 million people. He is also a highly acclaimed author of several novels, including his latest, Gods of Wood and Stone.
Getting Out in Front -- TV and Social Media Impact on Trials
Karen DeSoto, J.D., LL.M. is an on-air legal analyst for NBC News and MSNBC covering hot topic legal issues and trials of national interest. Off the air Karen is the Director and co-founder of the Global Mediation Exchange Center. She is also a professor at the Rutgers University School of Criminal Justice. As an attorney she served as the youngest and first Hispanic and woman to serve as Corporation counsel for the City of Jersey City. Karen also was a prosecutor, defense attorney, and a trial attorney concentrating in civil rights and employment.
